seeds or acorns at As You See It challenge

Hello everyone – how is it Friday already! I’ve got a busy weekend, as the ClarityCrafts Open Days have got underway today and I get to spend a couple of days chatting to crafty friends and demonstrating the fab new landscape masks & stamp sets. You’ll have seen from this week’s posts that I just love these ( hope you’re not bored with them yet!) and so had to utilise them for our new challenge at As You See It. Heather has given us a suitably autumnal theme of seeds or acorns – the ‘bijou landscapes – seed pods‘ set came to mind for me and I based my card on the design on the packaging.

First was to use one of the mask sets for the background – the ‘meadow’ one this time. I masked a frame around the edges of a square of stencil card using low tack tape and then laid the masks on the top. Once again, I started from the bottom, taking the lower two off and brushing ‘peeled paint’ Distress Oxide across the lower area and ‘crushed olive’ into the next one. I put the second mask back into place, uncovered the sky and used the straight edge mask to create a line to sponge in ‘stormy sky’ and create a lake.

Having removed all the masks & tape, I simply stamped a few of the seed pods into place, adding the little ‘crowns’ onto each of them (unfortunately with an additional splodge!). Once the ink was dry, I shaded them with olive green and brown Pergaliner pencils.

I used a micron pen to add seed dots around each of them, then stamped the sentiment and little swallows with black Archival ink. I then used a square embedder to emboss a frame onto the stencil card, added a layer of companion paper and attached the whole piece to a 6×6 card blank.

So, challenge your inner squirrel and don’t hoard your acorns and seeds for winter – come and share them with us at As You See It!

  1. What cracking masks! I love your square format too – very pretty. It’s quite a feature of your work. The seedpod/trees are amazing! What a great way to show off both the products and the challenge theme. 🙂

  2. Love that you used a simple, stencilled background to highlight your seed pods Deborah; it totally fits with your chosen sentiment and gives you card such a calm, serene feel. Beautiful!
