trio of trees

Hello crafty friends. I’ve got another sample using the new ‘woodland treescape overlay‘ stencils from ClarityCrafts today – and this time I actually did overlay them! This card is about as grungy as I get (it’s still essentially CAS, just lots of inky colour), picking up the tones from AAA Colourful‘s board, the layering theme from Inkspirational and the diecut/stencils from Addicted to Stamps & more, plus Stencil Fun (for obvious reasons!)

I’m very happy to announce that I started with another inky mop-up piece from my stash (one less now in the large pile from the times I clean up my craft mat!) I loved the orange in the sky to work with – I laid the first stencil onto the card and brushed a combination of ‘carved pumpkin’, ‘villainous potion’ and ‘blueprint sketch’ Distress Oxides across it.

I took the second stencil and laid it over the first image, offset to the right and lower down, then brushed the same inks through it. I’d put it a little lower than originally intended, so I positioned the third stencil so the ground sat between the first two, and repeated the process with brushing the inks.

I was going to simply add a mount of Antarctica companion paper, but decided to turn it into a frame instead, using a nested square die to cut out the centre. I cut a white mount as well. using the next size down nested die so it gave me an inner frame, glued that to the purple layer so it sat straight, added some scrap card on the reverse to slightly lift itnand attached it to the stencilled topper. The whole piece then went onto a 7×7 card blank.

What do you think of my little work of art?
