a tag recipe at As You See It challenge

Hello crafty friends! I’ve got a double delight for you today – the new challenge at As You See It (which is a recipe) and some more fab new stamps from ClarityCrafts in the form of an A4 sampler set featuring smaller versions of all their recent silhouette stamps. Obviously I couldn’t resist combining the two events for this gift tag – I don’t often make tags but everything just came together for this one. With our recipe for AYSI, the task is to combine all the elements on your project, but I’ve also picked up the tag theme from The Paper Players, the ‘blooms’ aspect of Triple B challenge and the autumn flowers feel of The Card Concept‘s photo

So, I started by cutting a tag with a Clarity die from a piece of Toscana designer card, which had the right tones for the recipe. I then used a rectangle nested die to emboss a frame onto the tag using a shim when running it through y embossing machine so it didn’t cut the card – I put the die on the front of the card, so the frame is debossed into it, but now wish I’d popped it on the back so the frame stood out in relief. Having done that, I stamped the floral silhouette with ‘ground espresso’ Archival ink and then shaded the flowers with Pergaliner pencils.

I brushed ‘peeled paint’ Distress Ink onto a PInky Gray greetings sticker, edged it with a black Sharpie and added that to the tag, together with a few gold sparkly gems around the flowers. A quick bit of twine through the hole in the tag and it was done.

So, in terms of the AYSI recipe, I’ve included all five elements – metallics on my gold dots; embossed texture with the rectangle die; ‘thinking of you sentiment’ on the word sticker; a tag with my die cut; and warm tones on the Toscana card.

And you can get more inspiration with these stamps over on the Clarity YouTube channel with Barbara’s shows at 10am & 2pm today!

  4. Such beautiful colours! Those mini silhouette stamps are amazing – so endlessly useful, I think. Clever of you to deboss the die like that to create the frame too. Great card for our challenge – and thank you also for playing along with The Paper Players. 🙂
