N for Numbers at Alphabet Challenge

Hello there! It’s time for our new theme at Alphabet Challenge and Dawn has given us N for Numbers. I decided to use this opportunity to get ahead of the game (for once…) and make my former mother-in-law’s birthday card – she’ll be 98 in a few weeks time! She’s housebound now, but is very partial to a sweet treat so ‘Linda’s piece of cake’ stamp set from ClarityCrafts fitted the bill perfectly! Helpfully, Festive Friday are marking National Dessert Day (who knew?), and I took pink, brown, desserts and food-related sentiment from their inspo list. The palette from Creative Colour was perfect for this selection of cakes and I’m also joining the ‘celebrate’ theme at Seize the Birthday.

So, onto my process… I cut a square of card using one of the ‘hearts’ nested doodle frame-it panel dies and stamped the cake stand onto it with ‘potting soil’ Archival ink. I then set about colouring all the yummy delights with Pergaliner pencils.

I gave the cake stand some ground underneath it by sponging brown ink across a piece of torn copy paper, then set about adding the sentiments – one from the ‘piece of cake’ set, the celebrate phrase from KISS ‘celebrate your day’ set and finally the numbers from the ‘alphabet & numbers word chains’ A4 set. I added a pink mount of Waimea Falls companion paper, another layer of brown card and then attached the topper to a 6×6 card blank.

Now all I’ll need to do is order some cake treats to go with the card!
