Hello friends. I’m back with another of my demos from Saturday’s shows, this time with the ‘lilies’ stamp from ClarityCrafts new Linda’s Florals collection and the colours from Color Dare (picking up the pink, blue & green). I’ve again used one of the vase stencils (Vases 1 this time), but used heat embossing to make it look like glass – read on for more details!

I started by stamping the spray of liles directly onto the front of a 6×6 card blank. I lined up one of the vases on the stencil over the stem of the lilies and drew around it with a micron pen to get the outline, avoiding the front leaf so it looked as thought it was coming over the top if the vase. My pen slipped as I was coming around the curve at the bottom of the vase, carrying the line on too far, so I decided to make a feature of it and drew it in on the other side too – it adds a bit of extra shape to the base! I then lengthened the flower stem to the bottom of the vase, again with the micron pen, and shaded the lilies and leaves with Pergaliner pencils, adding effect to the vase with a blue pencil to look like water. I’d kept the stencil hinged to the card, so I could line it back up over teh vase for the next step.

I wanted the vase to look like glass, so put the stencil back in place and sponged Versamark clear ink through it then heat embossed it with clear powder. Obviously, I needed to not emboss the top leaf – the set comes with a mask for the floral image, but I didn’t want to cut that up so stamped that part of the image onto the sticky bit of a Post-It note (old school style!), fussy cut the leaf and used that as a mask under the stencil. I grabbed a torn piece of copy paper and sponged a little ‘pumice stone’ Distress Oxide across the base of the vase to ground it.

I stamped the sentiment into place, then finished off by embossing a frame around the image with a circle embedder.

Definitely in my happy CAS place with this one – and it was fun to get a different look with the stencil!
