holly stencil

Hello there! We’re midway through another week and I’ve dropped the ball recently on my resoution to make one Christmas card each week through the year (although I have been helped by having Christmas products on my last two TV shows!) Anyway, I thought I’d better get back into gear now we’re into September, so here’s an offering to get us back on track. I teamed up ClarityCrafts ‘art nouveau Christmas holly’ stencil with one of their quote stamps, taking inspiration from the palette at Color Dare and the ‘sentiment’ theme at Sparkles Christmas; I’ll also share it at Merry Little Christmas for their usual ‘anything goes’.

I taped the holly stencil to the front of a 6×6 card blank and blended ‘peacock feathers’ and ‘bundled sage’ Distress Oxides through it using Clarity’s stencil brushes. I wanted to pep itup a little so, taking inspiration from the fantastic Eileen Godwin (the stencil queen on Clarity’s design team!) I brushed a little ‘kitsch flamingo’ through the stripes stencil on the top left and bottom right.

I simply then stamped the sentiment in the centre – job done!

I hope you’re not too shocked, but I haven’t used an embedder on this card! I’ll soon get over it and normal service will be resumed!!

  2. This stencil is so beautiful. I love the soft colors you used and how clean and simply gorgeous your card is. Thank you so much for playing along with our Sparkles Christmas Challenge. I hope to see you in the gallery for our October challenge as well. Sue – DT
