Autumn at Sparkles Challenge

Hello crafty friends. After yesterday’s sunflower, I’ve stepped firmly into cooler days today with this card as my DT offering for our new autumn theme at Sparkles Challenges using ClarityCrafts‘ ‘SHAC leafy framer’ stamps. The colours at Color Throwdown were just perfect for this and I used one of the ‘quote’ stamps to pick up the layout at Freshly Made Sketches, together with the top left diagonal of fall/free/pencils from TicTacToe‘s grid. That feels like I’ve covered a lot of bases with a fairly simple card!

My first step was to emboss a frame on the front of a 5×5 card blank using a square embedder, then stamp the large leafy frame, the autumn sentiment and additional leafy spray, all with black Archival ink. I took the kettle stamp from the ‘quotes’ set and added that, also in black. Obviously it needed a little colour, so I found three Pergaliner pencils in appropraiet colours and blended them to fill in the leaves.

To finish, I ran low tack tape back around the card edges, then watered down some ‘peeled paint’ Distress Ink on a mix mat, picked it up with a paint brush and added splatters around the leaves. That’s almost mixed media in my little CAS world!

Come on over to Sparkles Challenge and play with our autumn theme. For me, these cooler days are definitely a time to to wrap up warm and put the kettle on – what’s your inspiration?

  1. Hello, Deborah!! I love your card! My oldest had an album of kids songs – this reminds me of the ABC’s where POLLY PUT THE KETTLE ON and we all had tea!
