a new sketch at As You See It challenge

Hello friends. It’s Friday again and this week we have a new challenge for you at As You See It. Joanne’s given us a fab sketch to play with that’s got lots of possibilities. I decided not to go with geometric shapes, but instead pulled out the ‘riverside mountains’ masks and ‘just woodland & birds’ stamps to create a little scene, incorporating the colours from Sunday Stamps and the theme from AAA cards.

I started by embossing a frame onto the front of a 6×6 card blank using a square embedder. I ran masking tape round the sides of the frame and started to build the scene. First was to use the ground mask and lightly brush ‘walnut stain’ Distress Oxide upwards from it for the base of the mountains. I turned to the smaller mountains mask, using the top part, and brushed ‘ripe persimmon’ downwards, to blend with the ‘walnut stain’ at the base. Next was the larger mountain mask, this time brushing ‘dried marigold’ downwards. I then pulled out the clouds mask, brushing ‘broken china’ to create the sky, then finally repositioned the ground mask along the base of the mountains and swept more of the ‘broken china’ across it to give the impression of water in a lake. After all that, I simply stamped the pine trees along the water’s edge.

I foudn and appropriate sticker from the Pink Gray Greetings pack, ran a black Sharpie around the edges and popped it on the card front.

Another scene that reminds me of Canada! How will you use our sketch? There’s more inspiration from the rest of the design team over on the As You See It blog – we can’t wait to see you in our gallery!

  4. It does indeed remind me of my home country and even looks like my area of BC, with the dry hills and lakes and the sparse pine trees. I agree that the card portrays a very peaceful and serene landscape, and you have done a masterful job of showcasing those products!
