leafy overlay stencils

Hello crafty friends. My new ‘leafy overlay stencils’ from ClarityCrafts arrived at the weekend, so they just had to come out for a first play! I’ve used all three stencils in the set, picking up texture & foliage from Just Add Ink, the tones from Color Hues and the autumn option from Stencil Fun with the changing colours on my leaves.

So here’s a quick run through on what I did. I started with the first stencil on a 5×5 piece of card and ran it through my embossing machine to give the leaves dimension. I then brushed ‘rustic wilderness’ DistressOxide across the stencil and sponged ‘ripe persimmon’ around the edges of the leaves. I swtiched to the second stencil and repeated the colours again, but didn’t run this one through the embossing machine. Then onto the third stencil and repeat the process.

I then simply brushed across the card edges with the ‘rustic wilderness’ (easiest to do this while holding the card in mid-air) and attached it to a 6×6 card blank. The final touch was one of the smaller phrases from the ‘bijou ribbon sentiments’ set, again stamped in the ‘rustic wilderness’.

Embossing the first stencil to give the card texture has made those leaves stand out a bit more, with the others having a softer effect in the background.
