blended birthday

Hello there! I have a CAS card to share with you today, using the ‘bijou birthday dangles’ stamp from ClarityCrafts and a bit of colour blending. I’ve taken the tones from the current Color Hues palette, with the ‘sentiment only’ theme from CAS on Friday and the ‘blended’ challenge at Addicted to CAS

I started with the small circle backdrop stamp, put ‘ripe persimmon’ and ‘squeezed lemonade’ Distress Oxides onto it, then blended them on the stamp with a brayer and stamped it onto a 6×6 card blank.

I added the ‘birthday dangles’ stamp across the centre, using black Archival ink, and used yellow & orange Pergaliner pencils to shade the leters with an ombre effect – I coloured them with an undercoat of the yellow, then blended the orange in from the bottom of the letters. I used Pergacolour pens to pick out the little embellishments (candles, hats, etc) on the stamp. An embossed frame using a square embedder finished it off nicely.

These shades are far away from my usual colour palette, but I’m really pleased with how it turned out.

  2. I love the way you blended your background, Deb! I can only imagine the vast amount of unique stamps you own, I feel as if you never use the same stamp more than once. Very pretty card and so happy to see you in the gallery at Color Hues.
