Hello crafty friends. Today’s card revisits the ‘just wheels and wings silhouette framer’ stamps from ClarityCrafts, this time using the scooter image. It’s a slightly loose interpretation of the sketch from Sunday Stamps, uses a stencil for Addicted to Stamps and picks up the ‘retro’ theme from Seize the Birthday – there are still quite a few scooters around these days, but they were really at their peak popularity with the ‘mods’ back in the sixties!

I started by stamping the scooter silhouette with black Archival onto a 4″ square of stencil card. I cut a mask for it frm Clarity’s reusable mask material, covered it over and sponged ‘blueprint sketch’ Distress Oxide through the thin stripes stencil. (I used a sponge, rather than a brush, as I only wanted a few lines from the stencil.) Keeping the mask in place, I moved the stencil across and added a couple of red stripes with ‘festive berries’.

I shaded in the scooter using Pergaliner pencils.

I added the birthday sentiment from the original ‘just wheels & wings’ stamps, with ‘dad’ from the new silhouette set. I embossed a frame onto a 6×6 card blank using an embedder, then popped the topper on a layer of Antarctica companion paper and attached it to the card front.

I’m off to Brighton with my sister and brother-in-law today – Steve owns a Vespa (although we’re going by train!) and wants to go to the Mod Weekender, with lots of events including riders gathering along the seafront to show off their scooters. Wish me luck!

Fab retro card, Deborah! This brings back memories old and new – we get scooter riders stopping off at our village pub on their way to the coast and it’s always a pleasure to admire the machines. Hope you had a good time in Brighton, and thanks for playing along with our retro challenge at Seize The Birthday 🥳
