Butterflies at Sparkles Challenge

Good morning crafty friends! I’m a bit late posting this card for the new Sparkles challenge, which went live at 9am (having been away on Clarity’s two day crafting retreat and busy prepping for TV this weekend before I left, I’ve got behind with my scheduling!) You can no doubt tell that this month’s theme is butterflies and I’ve used the palette from Sunday Stamps along with ClarityCrafts‘ ‘butterfly wreath’ stamp set.

Working on a square of white card, I first sponged ‘saltwater taffy’ & ‘ripe persimmon’ Distress Oxides onto the small circle backdrop stamp (trying to leave it light where the wreath would go), spritzed it lightly with water and stamped it in the centre of the card. I added the wreath in black Archival, then shaded the flowers and leaves with Pergaliner pencils.

I stamped the two butterflies onto scrap card, shaded them with Pergaliners, then fussy cut and attached them to the card front. A quick mount of a co-ordinating companion paper, then onto a 6×6 card blank and one of the ‘bijou retro sentiments’ to finish.

It’s interesting that I went to the left hand side of Sunday Stamps’ palette as my eye is naturally drawn to the tones on the right – just highlighting different coours can really change the look of a card. So we’d love to see what colours you use on your butterflies over at Sparkles challenge!
