Hello crafty friends! Well it’s very hot here this weekend, so I’ve gone with a colourful summer sky on today’s card, featuring the colours from Just Add Ink and the sketch from Atlantic Hearts and using ClarityCrafts new ‘just woodland & birds’ stamps (which work perfectly for the theme at Addicted to Stamps)

I’ve pulled in a couple of my favourite techniques for this one, with an embedder and masks. I first used a square embedder for the frame on a 6×6 card blank, then ran low tack tape around the edges to keep it clean. I started with a couple of the landscape masks and brushed ‘everygreen bough’ Distress Oxide across them to create the ground and the hills. Next was to cover the hills with the other part of the mask and brushed ‘festive berries’ into the sky (I think I was a little heavy handed at this point…!) I then turned to the clouds mask, brushing ‘ripe persimmon’ and ‘mustard seed’ across it to complete the sky.

I stamped the group of trees into the landscape with Versafine Clair black ink, then sponged a little more ‘everygreen bough’ below them across the mask to add some shadow.

Finally, I popped the eagle into the sky (another reminder of my Canadian trip!) and added the sentiments from the set.

I do love creating landscapes with Clarity’s masks – but maybe need a bit less on the red next time!!

I don’t think you went too red at all. It is a lovely background and the red just looks like the sun is setting. Right now the smoke from wildfires is turning the sun into a huge red ball. Its beautiful but weird.

Thanks Johanna! I’ve been trying to keep up with the news on the wildfires – it’s dropped off the UK updates

We have been lucky where I live, so far, but other areas of the province are hugely affected. Washington State and Alberta are also in bad shape.
