Hello friends! Well, here we are at Friday and the sun has finally returned to South East England – if only for a couple of days! Coincidentally, our new theme at As You See It challenge is to fill in the blank and share your favourite beach activity – to be honest, I’m not a great one for days on the beach but, given the option, I’d be there on a lounger wearing my shades and sipping a glass of something suitably chilled! Obviously, ClarityCrafts ‘summer shades’ stamps came out to play again, using the tones from AAA Colourful – I’ll also share this with the ‘on vacation’ theme at Time Out and the summer twist at AAA Cards

I’ve CASE’d (Copy and Selectively Edit) a design I saw on social media, adapting it for a square card . The first step was to stamp the frames with Versafine black ink onto stencil card cut to fit a 6×6 card blank. I used the precut masks to cover them, together with the outer mask material, which meant I could create little scenes inside the lenses. I then used Spot-On sponges to blend ‘festive berries’, ‘ripe persimmon’, ‘dried marigold’ and ‘squeezed lemonade’ Distress Oxides into the frame, aiming for a summer sunset look.

I kept the masks in place and stamped the palm trees and a seagull into the apertures.

So far, so good, but then things didn’t go exactly according to plan… I was happily edging the topper with a black Sharpie when the pen slipped & I got a lovely black streak on the card front! Fortunately I missed the sunglasses, so was able to trim the topper down, re-edge it (carefully) with the Sharpie and attach it to a 5×5 card blank (not the original 6×6 I’d planned) A lucky escape! I found a suitable word sticker in the ‘Barabar’s Feel Good Words’ set and finished with that.

So that’s what I’d be happy doing on the beach – what about you? Come on and play at As You See It and tell us your favourite beach activities – we’re looking forward to seeing them!

Such a lovely idea – to reflect the scene in the sunglasses. Very CAS and very lovely. Good save on the pen slippage. Yesterday, I stood a card on my desk to admire it as I’d just finished it only for it to fall over and land on an inked stamp. Lesson: clean up as you go! 🙂

A crafter’s desk and tools are a hazard zone! I’ve suffered several mishaps like that! What’s important is how you dealt with it and your card is amazing! I love the point of view – looking at the view in the reflective lens of the sunglasses! Great sentiment, too!
