cool campervan!

Hello crafty friends! I’m back with another card using one of the new ‘wee transport’ stamps from ClarityCrafts, this time the campervan. I’ve been thinking of my niece while I was making this – she and her boyfriend been travelling around Queensland in a camper van for the last couple of weeks (am I jealous…?!)

To start, I took a piece of the Waimea Falls designer card (which picks up the colours from the bottom row of Color Dare‘s grid), cut it down to fit a 6×6 card blank and added a mount of the Waimea Falls companion paper. I used an embedder to create an embossed frame on the card front and then attached the topper, adding a shaded area of ground with a grey Polychromo pencil.

I stamped the campervan onto a piece of scrap card with ‘antique linen’ Distress Oxide. I wanted to get the two tone effect of a vintage VW van, so added ‘broken china’ Distress Oxide to the bottom part of the stamp using a cotton bud and stamped it over the first original image.

I used a micron pen to colour the wheels, then fussy cut the image and attached it to the card front (using a bit of scrap card behind it). I shaded round the van with a grey Polychromo to define it a bit more against the background and finished with a word sticker.

I love the summer vibe of this card. The background does all the work really – can you feel the warmth from that beachy scene?!

  1. Your card is definitely cool! Love the gorgeous paper you used; so perfect! I saw a new VW Van a few months ago – that was cool, too. Thanks for sharing at Color Dare.
