bamboo spotlight

Hello crafty friends. We’ve got more new goodies from ClarityCrafts today and this card features the fab ‘bamboo two-way overlay’ stamp set. I wanted to keep it pretty simple (no surprise there!) to reflect the ‘zen’ quality in the stamp I’ve used again today from the small ‘Japanese sentiments’ set.

I started with a square of watercolour card, and put a wash of water on it. I then inked up the bamboo infill stamp, adding ‘antique linen’ and ‘walnut stain’ Distress Oxides with sponges, and stamped it onto the card. I really like the way the inks blend with the water to give a softer image. I then stamped the leaves into place with ‘peeled paint’.

Once the card was fully dry, I used a nested circle to die cut a section, then blended ‘antique linen’, ‘ripe persimmon’ & ‘walnut stain’ around the lower edge. I mounted the background on a piece of Indian Summer companion paper, added a smaller circle of card on the back of the die cut and glued that back in place.

I added the ‘zen’ sentiment in ‘fern green’ Archival ink, then created a frame on the front of a 6×6 card blank with a square embedder and attached the topper.

I do like this spotlight technique and have based the design on the layout at Hand Stamped Sentiments (I rotated the sketch). I’m also going to share it with the dies challenge at Happy Little Stampers.
