Zen star flowers

Hello crafty friends and welcome to an early look at some more new goodies from ClarityCrafts that are launching tomorrow. The ‘star flower’ image, drawn by Barbara Gray, is really lovely and some of us were lucky enough to get our hands on an early release of it at Clarity’s summer retreat in August. I added in a few of the new small Japanese sentiments as well, using the colours from the current Color Dare challenge.

I started with the A4 rectangle panel stencil and used the second largest aperture on the front of a 6×6 card blank, brushing ‘pumice stone’ and ‘spun sugar’ Distress Oxides through it. I then stamped the star flowers onto the panel in ‘shadow grey’ Archival ink.

I then used the infill stamps from the set to colour in the image, with ‘salvaged patina’ for the star flowers, ‘spun sugar’ for the little flower sprays, ‘peacock feathers’ for the leaves and ‘pumice stone’ for the seedpods. I actually managed to include all four of Color Dare’s colours!

I drew a deckled edge around the inked panel with a micron pen and finished by adding three of the new small Japanese sentiments – I thought ‘serenity’ & ‘happiness’ sat well with the ‘zen’ sentiment, and these colours are also peaceful and calming.

  1. Wow! I would frame & hang this beauty up to look at every day! A stunning work of art, really beautiful. My hubby does Bonsai as his hobby so I gravitate to the Asian design. Thank you so much for sharing at Color Dare.
