Welcome to my crafty blog and another look at the new quote stamps released yesterday from ClarityCrafts. I made this one using the ‘trees and their mantles’ stamp set and have picked up blue, green & frame from Festive Friday‘s inspo list – I thought this little tranquil scene was appropriate for World Mental Health day as well.

So I started with yet another inky mop-up piece from my stash (on one of the small squares of Clarity’s stencil card) that had a nice sky effect. I stamped the tree trunk & branches in ‘potting soil’ Archival and added the mantle (leafy crown) in ‘rustic wilderness’ Distress Oxide, together with the grass along the bottom.

I stamped the quote into the gap using ‘watering can’ Archival.

I then used a square embedder to create a frame on a 6×6 card blank, ran a black Sharpie around the edges of the topper and attached it in the centre of the frame.

I was looking at this card yesterday when I drafted this blog and reflecting on the news about the vandalism of the iconic tree on Hadrian’s Wall at Sycamore Gap. If you haven’t heard about it, here’s a link to the BBC’s news coverage. I can’t get my head round why someone would deliberately take a chainsaw to a 300 year old tree in a public place – it seems so utterly pointless and has clearly affected so many people who love the area. Sometimes I really don’t understand the world we’re in.

Absolutely gorgeous! And that’s so sad about the tree. People are just plain evil. There is no excuse for unkind acts.

I’m glad I don’t have kids as I think the world we currently live in has gone mad. Senseless acts every where and it is sickening.

So beautiful and extra special when you hear the story of that gorgeous old tree being cut down. Very sad for the world. Loving the wide white frame to draw your attention to the tree!! 🙂
