looking fintastic!

Welcome to my crafty blog and something a little different today! My friends who know me will will be very surprised by this card, as they know I can’t bear fish (whether swimming around or lying on a plate!) This trio from ‘Sam’s bobbing around’ set by ClarityCrafts are rather fun though, and perfectly fitted the theme at Inspired by. I took the colours from Creative Colour Challenges and picked up the middle row from TicTacToe‘s grid.

I started by creating the background with Clarity’s ‘strip box’ stencil, first brushing ‘everygreen bough’ Distress Oxide through it without going risght to the edge of the card. I then turned it through 90 degrees and brushed ‘mermaid lagoon’, which gave me a lovely checked pattern.

I used the ‘at the sea’ waterline mask from the Build a Scene set to add some waves into the centre box, brushing it with ‘stormy sky’, then stamped the fish with ‘watering can’ Archival ink. They were then shaded with my favourite Pergaliner pencils.

I added gold highlights to the fish with a Posca pen and then stamped the sentiments with the ‘watering can’ – ‘looking fintastic’ is from the ‘koi carp’ set. I mounted the topper onto a layer of teal card and attached it to a 6×6 card blank.

These are fun images, but I can’t say I’ve got any fonder of these flappy finny creature in real life!
