star stencil

Welcome to the final one of my design team sample card for the new Art Nouveau collection stencils from ClarityCrafts. Today it’s the turn of the ‘Christmas Stars’ stencil – I’m going to share this one with the challenges at Happy Little Stampers and The Holly and Ivy (for obvious reasons!)

I needed to make a mask for this one, so started by outlining the large star from the stencil onto a piece of copy paper with a micron pen & then cut it out. I attached the stencil to a square of Clarity’s 7×7 stencil card with hinge of low tack tape, then lined up the outer part of the copy paper under it to isolate the large star & sponged ‘mustard seed’ Distress Oxide through onto the card.

Next I replaced the copy paper mask with the inner part of the star to cover the yellow area, then blended ‘stormy sky’ & ‘chipped sapphire’ Distress Oxides across the rest of the stencil. I switched back to the outer paper mask and this time sponged clear embossing ink through onto the yellow star. I removed the stencil and heat embossed the star with clear sparkle powder

I trimmed the stencil card down, leaving a white border around the image, mounted it on layer of dark blue Rainbow River companion paper & attached it to a 7×7 card blank. I finished with one of the sentiments from the ‘Feel Gud Gnomes & Billboards’ stamp set in ‘chipped sapphire’

I really love the highlighted sparkly star on this one. It took a bit of effort in creating the copy paper mask and switching between the two parts, but I think it was worth it!
