Guest Designer for Color Hues – teal & orange

I’m delighted to have been invited along as guest designer for the new shades of teal and orange at Color Hues! For once, this card came together quite easily – definitely helped by the fact that I had a mop-up piece of card in my stash in exactly the colours I needed and that ClarityCrafts‘ ‘meadow grasses’ stamps were already out on my desk! For good measure, I’ve also picked up flowers and splatters from Just Add Ink.

So, I started with the mop-up piece from my stash – this is just a small square of Clarity’s stencil card that I’d used to pick up leftover ink from my crafting mat (I’ve got loads of these!) I popped a large circle mask onto it and brushed ‘salvaged patina’ Distress Oxide to create the sun.

Next was to stamp one of the ‘meadow grasses’ into place and then shade in the flower heads with a couple of orange Pergaliner pencils

I finished by adding one of the ‘occasions’ sentiments, running a black Sharpie around the card edges and then attaching it to a 5×5 card blank.

I love it when a card comes together this smoothly (that doesn’t happen very often in my world!) Happy days!

  4. That “mop up” piece is fabulous! It’s something I ought to do more often. And you were correct, it was the perfect background for this challenge. I love how you overlapped the sentiment on the meadow grass silhouette which is so beautiful! A lovely, lovely card! So nice to have you as our guest designer this time around!

  5. What a great idea to run the sharpie around the edge, its just enough to hi light the inky panel. A great take on the colours, good job you had the presence of mind to mop up that excess ink! So happy your guesting with us this time at Color Hues. 🙂
