summer favourites for As You See It challenge

Hello there! I’m back with a second card today for our new theme at As You See It challenge – it’s one of our ‘fill in the blank’ challenges and Jane has asked us for the things we love most about summer. I’ve gone for warm sunny days (not much sign of those in the UK at the moment!) and bright beautiful flowers, with the help of the ‘abstract dandelions’ overlay stamps from ClarityCrafts, the right hand column from Color Dare‘s chart and the ‘sunny days’ theme from TGIF challenges.

I started by stamping the dandelion outline image onto a square of smooth white card in Versafine Clair black ink. I added the sky using Clarity’s clouds mask and ‘peacock feathers’ Distress Oxide, followed by the landscape with their hills mask and ‘bundled sage’ ink.

I then used the infill stamp to colour the image, sponging ‘bundled sage’ onto the stems and ‘picked raspberry’ on the flower heads. As always, I used my stamping platform for this, so I could get the stamp lined up over the image to start with, and then gradually build the colours up.

I filled in the stamp border using a black Sharpie pen & a ruler, then ran the Sharpie around the card edges before attaching it to a 6×6 card blank. I added one of Clarity’s ‘occasions’ sentiments and finished with three birds in flight drawn with the micron pen.

So, what’s your favourite thing about summer? Head on over to As You See It to find out what the rest of the design team love about this season and then come and share your favourite things with us.

  2. Wow, hadn’t finished my first comment and you have already come back a second time… what a great backgound and have not heard of that inlay technique before; but I’ll have to go and check it out. Such a pretty card and again thank you for sharing with us at Color Dare.

  3. Beautiful card and beautiful technique! You’re much braver than me going in with a sharpie and ruler… that idea sends me running but you make it look superb. 🙂
