Clarity craft club lookback – abstract snowflake die

Sunday again already? The weeks are just going by at speed, so here’s the next installment in my dips back into ClarityCrafts Craft Club. Slightly surreal today, as it’s 30 degrees outside and here I am with a snowflake die from December 2021!

It’s such a great modern design though, I decided not to make a Christmas card with it and to continue using up some of my designer paper offcuts. The new challenge at Just Us Girls is for a CAS thinking of you card, and I’ve combined that with the die challenge at Happy Little Stampers

The ‘abstract snowflake’ is quite a large die, so I opted to just use half of it. I started by lightly brushing Distress Oxide ink onto a 6×6 card blank in a semi-circle from the folded edge. I had originally planned to use ‘speckled egg’ but didn’t like how that then looked against the piece of Amazonia paper I’d used, so did a second card blank using ‘dried marigold’ ink.

I cut the die into the Amazonia paper and glued it onto the card front – another useful way to use up an offcut of paper that’s not large enough for the whole die.

I stamped the sentiment from one of the ‘floral delights’ sets, using ‘shadow grey’ Archival ink. You’ll have spotted that I still had a second card blank available, that I’d blended the ‘specked egg’ onto, so I found another offcut in my Antarctica paper folder and added the die cut in that. Two for one – happy days!

  1. Deborah… what a fabulous mandala! I will have to check that company out. I love your coloring on both cards! Thank you so much for joining and sharing at Just Us Girls this week.

  2. I just love this design. It is perfect for a CAS card and yet has lots of interest going on. The colour choices work beautifully for both examples.

  3. The ‘abstract snowflake’ is an amazing die cut. I love how you’ve added color them and how you added a bit of color behind the orange one. Thanks for joining us at Happy Little Stampers ~ Anything Goes with Dies Challenge. Apologies for the late comment.
