happy birthday floral frame

Welcome to my crafty blog and a birthday card showcasing one of ClarityCrafts’ floral frame dies. I took the layout from CAS Colours & Sketches, the right-hand column of diecut, bright colour & CAS from TicTacToe and ‘anything goes’ from Seize the Birthday

The first spet was to cut the aperture die into the front of a card blank. I started with a 6×6 card, but wanted more white space around the image so swapped it up to a 7×7. I cut a square of ‘Waimea Falls’ designer card and used a nested square die to cut an outer frame from it, planning to use the centre part to sit behind the die cut – the frame was glued onto the card front.

And then I discovered my rookie error! I’d trimmed the card larger than the aperture but, having cut the frame from it, I realised the remaining piece was the same size as the aperture, so I couldn’t fix it to the inside of the card front! That bit went back into my stash and I cut another piece to sit behind the die. I used a couple of scrap pieces of white card to cut out the flower and the heart and pieced those bits into the die cut. The flower looks a little flat, so I cut the centre again from a bit of the ‘Waimea Falls’ and added that.

I cut the sentiment from the die set and attached that into the frame, finishing with one of the ‘occasions sentiments – happy birthday’ phrases in ‘paradise teal’ Archival ink to sit underneath the frame.

Thanks for dropping in. It always amazes me what I can achieve with an aperture die and some designer card – not bad for a girl who’s a stamper at heart! Here’s a quick summary of the products I used today – I’ll see you again tomorrow.

  1. That paper is so pretty and I thought you had done the inking until I read the post. Great frame and I chuckled at the rookie error. I make those all the time. Love the card – it is CAS but far from simple.

  2. Pretty card! I love the background paper, and I like how you infilled the flowers with white, makes them pop. Thanks for playing along with us at Seize The Birthday 🥳
