the perfect blend

Welcome to my crafty blog and the start of another week! I like nothing better than meeting friends for coffee (and food!), so Linda Williams’ coffee themed stamp sets for ClarityCrafts are perfect for me

I’ve managed to combine three current challenges on this card. The layout is from Freshly Made Sketches, the colours from Just Us Girls and AAA cards are looking for hot or cold drinks.

This is a one layer card (it’s totally flat), so I started by stamping one of the coffee mugs from Linda’s ‘visit, sit, stay, drink’ set onto a 6×6 card blank. I covered it with the pre-cut mask that comes with the set and stamped a second mug to sit behind it. There’s only one coffee mug mask in the set, so I cut a second one from an all-over sticky note to cover it up. I added the coffee pot to the left and also masked that off. I then used the ‘abstract squares 3’ stencil to create the background, lining the pot and mugs up against a larger aperture before brushing ‘broken china’ Distress Oxide through it. The stencil didn’t quite reach to the top of the card on the left, so I repositioned it and added a little more at the top.

I removed the masks and shaded in the design on the pot and mugs with purple and grey Pergaliner pencils.

The final touch was to add the sentiment from the other set of coffee stamps, using ‘shadow grey’ Archival ink.

Thanks for dropping in. I’ve got a couple of dates to meet friends for coffee this week, so all’s well in my world!
