Clarity Craft Club lookback – nested doily mandala

Hello there! It’s Sunday again so it’s back into Clarity’s Craft Club – this week I’m playing with the ‘nested doily mandala’ from June 2021.

I’ve pulled three challenges together onto this card. The layout is thanks to the sketch from TGIF and I incorporated the middle row of die cut, green & layers from TicTacToe‘s grid. I’ll also be sharing it with Happy Little Stampers for their die cut challenge

I started with a piece of Clarity’s Companion papers & blended ‘iced spruce’ Distress Oxide onto it through the ‘trellis’ stencil. After edging the paper with a black Sharpie, I attached it to a 5×7 card blank.

I’d used the ‘iced spruce’ as I found a scrap piece of card that I’d cleaned a brayer onto in that shade and used it to cut out the mandala die. I added a piece of pink paper with a narrow black strip to the card front, then glued the outer ring and inner circle of the mandala die – I’d managed to keep all the little bits in the centre piece of the die which give it a lovely textured pattern.

I finished with a black word sticker and a few pink Glossies.

This isn’t my usual colour palette, but I love the pop of pink against the dusky green. It will be winging its way to an Indian friend who has a birthday at the weekend – the mandala felt very appropriate.

  1. What a great slimline card, Deb! The centerpiece die is really great and I love the stenciled background. I have to remind myself to do more stenciling. Thank you for playing with us at the HLS Die Challenge and I hope you can join us again soon.
