Welcome to my crafty blog and another card with one of my favourite Claritystamps – ‘Tina’s floral spray’. I’ve teamed it up with the ‘mountains & hills’ masks that we used on Clarity’s recent summer retreat thanks to the layout from Freshly Made Sketches, together with the palette from Color Throwdown

I started with a piece of card that I’d cut to fit a 5×7 card blank and used the hills side of the mask to blend the first layer of the landscape with a brush and ‘rustic wilderness’ Distress Oxide. I repositioned the mask to form the next layer of hills and blended more of the ‘rustic wilderness’ across it. For the third layer I used the mountains side of the mask and ‘dusty concord’ ink, blending some of the green across the lower edge so it wasn’t too staks against the hills.

I then stamped the floral spray into place with Versafine Clair black ink.

I coloured the image using a waterbrush and Distress Oxides in ‘picked raspberry’ & ‘ripe persimmon’ for the flowers & buds, with ‘rustic wilderness’ for the leaves.

I finished by running a black Sharpie around the edge of the card to give it a narrow border, then attached it to the 5×7 card blank.

As I was blending the ink on the mountains, I was reminded of the verse from the hymn ‘All things bright & beautiful’ that goes: ‘The purple headed mountain, the river running by, the sunset and the morning, that brightens up the sky’. That hymn is often sung at harvest time, so maybe my choice of colour was appropriate for September!
