80th birthday

I thought I’d share a card today that I was asked to make for someone celebrating their 80th birthday. I’ve used Julie Hickey’s ‘beautiful blooms’ dies again but this time, rather than the small graphic daisies, I’ve gone for the larger flowers. I used the sketch from Global Design Project and the new 2022 Stampin’ Up! colours thanks to Hand Stamped Sentiments, toether with the middle row from TicTacToe‘s grid

I started by cutting several of the large flower bases in white card, then used the ‘sweet sorbet’ and a waterbrush to colour them – I had the ink quite wet so that I got variation in the colour on the diecuts. I cut the co-ordinating edging dies in white card and coloured their centres with the ‘parakeet party’ Write marker before gluing them onto the bases.

I cut a couple of layers of white card, ran the ‘starry night’ Write marker around the edge of the larger one, then attached them together and onto a 7×7 card blank. I don’t have card stock in the new colours, just the Write markers, so cut the letters and numbers in white using Julie’s ‘sweet pea’ dies and then coloured them with the markers – ‘orchid oasis’ for the letters and ‘starry sky’ for the numbers. I glued them onto the card front and stamped the sentiment below them, again in the ‘starry sky’.

I glued the four flowers into place, then cut a few hearts from the ‘sweet pea numbers’ set, coloured them with the ‘tahitian tide’ marker and scattered them around the flowers to add some final embellishment.

I’m really pleased with how this turned out, so I’m off to make a variation on it for a 75 year old!

  1. So beautiful, Deb – I LOVE the watercolor effect you’ve gotten by coloring this way – one of my favorites! Thanks so much for playing at Hand Stamped Sentiments!
