Claritystamp craft club lookback – hare, fox & badger #158

Hello crafty friends, and welcome to my Sunday dip back into Claritystamp’s monthly craft club. I mentioned last week that I took a break from the club at the end of 2018, but rejoined a year later just before I retired from full time work, so here we are with the ‘hare fox & badger’ from December 2019.

I decided to make a slimline card with these three friends, so started by stamping them in black onto a piece of smooth white card that I’d trimmed to fit. I cut a mask for the animals from an all over sticky note, so that I could then stamp the trees behind the using ‘rustic wilderness’ Distress Oxide. I added the land by brushing the ink over a mask from Clarity’s ‘riverside landscape reflection’ set.

I added colour to the leaves with the ‘rustic wilderness’ and a Pergamano blending nib, and used it to also put a bit more shadow under the animals. I then popped the outer part of a circle mask into the sky and brushed ‘weathered wood’ and ‘squeezed lemonade’ ink through it.

I attached the topper to a slimline card blank and finished with a Clarity word sticker.

Thanks for dropping in. I hope you’re having a lovely weekend – it’s Mothering Sunday here in the UK so I’m heading out to dinner with my sons shortly. Before I go, I’m going to share this with a few card challenges. I used the layout from CAS Colours and Sketches (I hope I haven’t pushed it too far – I thought the three animals picked up the three elements in the sketch!) I’ve picked up the central column of green/free/slimline from TicTacToe‘s grid, together with the theme of ‘anything CAS goes + spring animals’ from AAA Cards. Now you may not immediately think of these three as spring animals, but they are very much out and about at the moment having just given birth to their young. There’s lots of evidence of their activity in the woods near my house!

  1. This is such a clever take on this week’s CC&S sketch – perfect for the TicTacToe board too! What a sweet little scene you created; that moon is just fab!

  2. I love the little scene you have made with this group of animals Deborah. The trees make a lovely background and I love the way you grounded the animals. Thank you for coming to play at Tic Tac Toe this week! Vicky x
