fly away

Hello crafty friends. Today’s card is another one in my happy CAS zone, this time using one of Claritystamp’s backdrop stamps and their ‘fly away’ set. I thought they worked well for the sketch over at AAA cards with the colours from Global Design Project

I started with the small circle backdrop stamp and blended ‘rustic wilderness’, ‘broken china’ and ‘speckled egg’ Distress Oxides onto it with sponges )these were the nearest matches I had to the SU colours on GDP’s chart). I then spritzed it lightly with water and stamped it onto a square of smooth white card. The water on the ink gave the stamped image a lovely textured feel.

I wanted to mask off the outer part fo the image so I could stamp the tree tops from the ‘fly away set, but didn’t have a pre-cut mask the right size. I have got some A5 masking sheets from Clarity, so used a circle nested die to cut into the centre of one of those, which worked well. I then stamped the top of the leafy spray across the bottom of the circle with black Archival ink.

I then added the boys and birds, again in black Archival, and the sentiment from the stamp set.

I finished by adding a little colour to the sentiment with a Pergaliner pen, edged the card with a black Sharpie and mounted it onto a 6×6 card blank.

Thanks for dropping in. I can’t believe it’s nearly the end of the week already – I’ve still gots lots on my ‘to do’ list from Monday! Sometimes it would be nice to just fly away over the trees, but instead I’ll be back tomorrow with another little creative offering.
