Hello crafty friends and welcome to day 6 of my little 12 Dies of Clarity challenge. This time it’s the ‘nested doily mandala’ from June’s Clarity Craft Club. Now I’ll be honest, my first reaction was to wonder how I would use this without just sticking it in the centre of a card… although I did wind up doing that for the second one!
I started with the card on the right of the photo first and decided to cut the die out of a piece of ‘Barb’s favourite – Antarctica’ paper. I knew the design would need a frame, but can’t bear to waste any lovely paper on matting & layering, so used a square nested die to cut a narrow frame. I cut the die out of the inner part of the frame and then worked out that I could get another whole one and two of the inner circles out of it as well. Happy days!
I attached the outer frame to a 6×6 card blank and added one of the whole mandalas, plus two inners. I’d used ‘Stick It’ on the back of the paper before die cutting, so the shapes were easy to stick down.
I finished with one of Clarity’s word stickers, mounted on offcut piece of the paper.
I’m going to share this over at Freshly Made Sketches, as I used their current layout for the design.
Now I still had another two piece mandala cut from the designer paper, and was wondering how I would frame it. I remembered Clarity’s small circle backdrop stamp, which turned out to be the perfect size. I stamped it onto a 5×5 card blank using ‘speckled egg’ Distress Oxide and, once dry, attached both part of the mandala within it. I finished by stamping the sentiment from the July 2021 stamp club in ‘tenacious teal’ Artistry ink.
Thanks for dropping in. I’m halfway through my Christmas challenge now – I’ll be back tomorrow with the next installment.
