winter beauty

Hello crafty friends. I’m still on Christmas cards and have a nice quick one to share today, inspired by a couple of challenges. The theme over at Inspired by is ‘winter beauty’ and I drew on their photo and sketch for the design of this card, together with The Paper Players‘s theme of ‘winter wonderland’ (love the snowflake in the top left of their inspiration collage photo). I’ve also used the colours from TGIF – they are absolutely my favourite combination!

I started with a piece of the ‘snowflake splendor’ DSP from Stampin’ Up! – it had the perfect colours for this challenge. I blended ‘chipped sapphire’ Distress Oxide around the edges to pick up the dark blue from TGIF’s palette, and then attached it to a 6×6 card blank.

I die cut a snowflake in white card using SU’s ‘so many snowflakes’ set and then heat embossed it with WOW’s ‘clear hologram sparkle’ powder. I find the easiest way to do this is to use a rubber brayer to add the ink to the die cut and then heat it, rather than embossing the card before die cutting. Once dry, I glued the snowflake onto the card front.

I finished by stamping one of the sentiments from SU’s ‘snowflake wishes’ set with the ‘chipped saphhire.

I’d planned to share this card yesterday, but was late back from visiting my mother-in-law who was 95 yesterday! Still, better late than never – here’s another close up to show the sparkle on the snowflake.
