Christmas snowflakes

Hello crafty friends – I’m back with another Christmas card today. This one uses several snowflake based products from Stampin’ Up!, mixing some current ones with retired pieces. The layout is inspired by the current sketch at The Paper Players and I’ve gone with my favourite teal/turquoise shades which I think look really good with white.

I started with the snowflakes mini embossing folder from SU’s ‘wintry’ set. I dragged ‘salvaged patina’ Distress Oxide across one side of it and then embossed a piece of white card. I love the way this technique throws the snowflakes into relief.

I then trimmed the embossed card into three strips and mounted them onto white card. I cut a piece of snowflake paper from SU’s retired ‘snowflake splendour’ DSP, attached it to an A6 card blank and then added the three embossed strips.

I die cut two of the snowflakes from the ‘so many snowflakes’ set and layered the smaller one on top of the larger one. I stamped the sentiment from Julie Hickey’s ‘Christmas frame’ set onto a die cut banner, again in the ‘salvaged patina’, and attached that to the card front with the snowflake.

Thanks for dropping in. I’m very taken with this embossing effect – I think I’ll try a few more cards in different shades.

  1. This is so pretty Deborah! The inked relief snowflakes are stunning – I think you could be addicted to this fun technique! I really like the pastel snowflake paper behind too – a beautiful mix of old and new. Thanks for sharing with us over at The Paper Players this week!
