Noel holly

Evening everyone and welcome to my crafty blog. I’m back with another Christmas card, this time inspired by the challenge at AAA cards. A ‘twinchie’ is a 2 inch square with all the card design contained within it – I haven’t done one of these before and it took a bit of thinking about!

I remembered the ‘holly and ivy’ stamp from Claritystamp’s Craft Club in October 2020, which looked ideal for the background. I trimmed a piece of spare card to 2 inch square and stamped the ‘holly and ivy’ onto it in ‘iced spruce’ Distress Oxide. Normally I would have popped the square onto a gold mat to frame it, but that would have made it too big. Instead, i used a Versamark pen and a rule to ink a thin line one the edge of the card and then heat embossed it with WOW’s ‘metallic gold’ superfine powder. I did each edge in turn, rather than all four sides at once, and it did give a lovely narrow gold border.

I attached the topper to a 5×5 card blank, and then highlighted the holly berries with some red Stickles, which gave them sparkle. I left it to dry fully overnight, and then finished by stamping one of the Clarity ‘word sticker’ stamps onto another piece of card and heat embossing it with the ‘metallic gold’. Once trimmed down, that nestled nicely amongst the holly leaves.

I’m very happy with how this has turned out – another design that would lend itself well to batch making, so I can feel a longer crafting session coming on! Here’s a close up that picks up more of the gold and sparkle.
