h is for happy

Welcome to my crafty blog. It’s time for a new theme over at The Alphabet Challenge and we’re now up to the letter ‘H’. This week Debbie has asked us to include ‘happy’ in the sentiment, and I decided that Julie Hickey’s alphabet dies would be perfect.

Before picking up the dies, though, I started by embossing the front of a 6×6 card blank with Stampin’ Up!’s ‘subtle texture’ folder. I took one of my inky mop-up backgrounds and trimmed it down to 7cm square, then mounted it on a slightly larger dark blue mat. I attached it to the card front to sit as a diamond.

Next was to produce the die cut letters. I brayered clear WOW ink onto a piece of white card and then heat embossed it with ‘metallic platinum’ powder. I then cut the letters out of the metallic card and glued them across the centre of the diamond.

To finish, I stamped the ‘birthday wishes’ sentiment from Julie Hickey’s ‘mandala’ set in ‘chipped sapphire’ and trimmed it down before attaching it below the die cut letters. Added a few Glossies and it was done.

Thanks for dropping in. Come and join us over at the Alphabet Challenge with your ‘happy’ cards – we’d love to see what you create. In the meantime, I’m also going to share this over at CAS Colours & Sketches, as I used this week’s design for my layout.

  1. Love how you used this inky background – and those hammered metal effect embossed letters are fabulous! Thanks for sharing with us over at CAS Colours and Sketches this week!
