Claritystamp new design club lookback – agapanthus #101

Welcome to my crafty blog. Bit of a late post today with my weekly dip into the Claritystamp new design club – this time it’s the agapanthus stamp from March 2015. I decided to use it for a few of this week’s blog challenges. The colours are from Color Throwdown – for once I’ve stayed true to a plant’s colours! I’ve also picked up the ‘script’ theme from Just Us Girls and the centre row from the new TicTacToe challenge – embossing, flowers & anniversary.

I started with a small square of card from my stash that I’d previously mopped up blue ink onto, and stamped over it with the script stamp from Clarity’s ‘journalling’ set, using second generation ‘mermaid lagoon’ Distress Oxide.

I then blended ‘wilted violet’ and ‘mowed lawn’ Distress Oxide onto the agapanthus stamp, and stamped it three times around the lower left corner. I used a Pergamano blending nib to add ‘wilted violet’ to each of the flower heads.

Next, I cut two squares of white card, one slightly smaller than the other, to fit on a 6×6 card blank. I die cut an aperture into each of them, using the nested square dies and putting the smaller one onto the smaller square of card. I stamped the sentiment across the lower edge of the larger aperture and heat embossed it with WOW silver metallic powder. I then stuck the smaller square behind the larger one, so that I had a layered frame.

Finally, I attached the stamped square behind the framed aperture and then stuck the whole topper onto the card blank.

Thanks for dropping in. It’s been a busy weekend and there’s a lot happening this coming week, but I’m still hoping to share a card with you each day.

  1. Deborah… your card is absolutely lovely! Love the technique refresher… it is sometimes amazing what we know, forget, and realize we should try more often in cardmaking.
