sunset flowers

Welcome to my crafty blog. Just a quick share today as I’ve got a busy diary – I’ve gone back to one of my all-time favourite stamps from Clarity, ‘Tina’s floral spray’. I decided to go for a different look, keeping the flowers in relief and making the background the key focus for this one – Clarity’s designer papers are so beautiful.

I was inspired by this week’s colour challenge over at Just Us Girls challenge, and this paper designed by Barbara Gray as part of the ‘Indian Summer’ pack was perfect. It made me think of those amazing tropical sunsets you get to see on holiday (no chance of that for us Brits this year, though!)

So I started by trimming down the paper to fit a 5×7 card blank, and then stamped the floral spray onto it using black Archival ink.

I wanted to colour in the flowers and leaves using the infill stamps that are part of the set, but without losing the detail of the stamp, so used ‘shadow grey’ Archival.

I added the sentiment in black Archival, then mounted the paper onto a black card blank (I tried it on white, but the black had better impact). Just a few black Glossies to finish.

Thanks for dropping in. I’ll be back with another creation tomorrow.

  1. Deborah… I have to say you fooled me. I thought you had watercolored the background… the patterned paper is very realistic and perfect as a background to your floral spray! Thanks for sharing.
