best day ever

Welcome to my crafty blog. I’m still busy with Father’s Day cards, so I can get them off in good time to the little community shop that’s selling some of my creations. I’m quite pleased with today’s offering as it’s used up several pieces of scrap card, so has gladdened my thrifty crafter heart!

I started with three strips of card in navy, grey & teal and overstamped them using the new ‘scrunch’ background stamp designed by Marion Emberson for WOW. I used navy ink on the teal, dark grey on the grey, and then heat embossed the navy card with ‘metallic platinum’ powder. I then attached the strips to a rectangle of white card to make a topper, adding thin pieces of white between them, and trimmed the side edges evenly.

Next was to heat emboss another scrap piece of white card with the ‘metallic platinum’ and then die cut ‘Dad’ using Julie Hickey’s alphabet dies. I then added that to the topper (which I’d attached to a 6×6 card bank) using foam pads, and finished off with one of Julie’s banner die cut ‘birthday messages’.

I took inspiration from a couple of challenges for this one. The layout uses Jen M’s design over at Freshly Made Sketches. I’ve then used several element from the inspiration photo at the new challenge from Inspired by, specifically the colours and patterns from the bedcovers & pillows and the layout of the wall mural. Thanks for dropping in – I’ll be back tomorrow with the new challenge from Alphabet!
