snowdrop thoughts

Welcome to my crafty blog. I bought some new stamps in the Claritystamp sale a couple of months ago and thought I really should give them an airing, so today’s card uses a couple of them. The background is done with the ‘harlequin’ stamp and the flower is from the ‘snowdrop doodle round’ set.

I thought the harlequin background was ideal for the current theme over at Less Is More

I started with the background stamp, sponging Distress Oxides onto it in ‘tattered rose’, ‘speckled egg’ & ‘iced spruce’ and stamping it directly onto a 6×6 card blank. I was a bit disappointed not to have more differentiation between the ‘speckled egg’ & iced spruce’, but I guess they’re too close in tone when sponged rather than inked directly. Once dry, I stamped the snowdrop over the background using black Archival.,

The next step was to fill in the flower head with the ‘tattered rose’ using the co-ordinating little stamp from the set.

All I then needed to do was add the sentiment at the side of the background image, again using the black Archival. This is one I’ve had for years from Claritystamp.

This was a fairly quick card to make (once I’d worked out my layout, colours, etc..!). I always get nervous doing one layer cards, rather than working on a separate piece to then cut down, in case it all goes wrong but this one’s turned out nicely.
