He is risen!

Welcome to my crafty blog. I’ve finally managed to get myself into gear and start making my Easter cards – am cutting it a bit fine as they’ll need to be posted next week! Stampin’ Up! has got some great sets for religious cards at Easter (I don’t do bunnies and eggs…), and today’s card uses a couple of them. The layout is inspired by the sketch over at TGIF challenges (I’ve only take a little bit of liberty with it!). I’ve also picked up the theme of ’embossing folder’ from Just Us Girls

I started by embossing a piece of white card with the SU ‘textured paint’ folder, trimming it to fit on a 5×7 card blank. This is the most fantastic embossing design that works for so many different occasions – I can see it becoming a favourite in my stash

Next was to die cut a circle of white card. I then used Claritystamp’s ‘sunshine’ stencil and brushed ‘mermaid lagoon’ Distress Oxide across the circle, adding a little more without the stencil to soften the bright white card.

I then die cut the cross from SU’s ‘cross of hope’ set (now retired), and embossed it with a wood effect folder, before attaching it to the card with foam pads.

I finished by stamping the sentiment from another retired SU set, ‘His Grace’ from last year, onto a piece of white card in second generation ‘mermaid lagoon’. That was trimmed down and also went onto the card using foam pads.

I think Easter could be quite special this year. The Christian message of Christ’s resurrection is about new life and hope, and that feels very timely as the pandemic looks to be coming under control in the UK. We are also aiming to reopen our church to hold services in person again on Easter Day for the first time since just before Christmas, and it will be great to be able to say together ‘Allelulia, Christ is Risen’.

  1. What a wonderful Easter card, Deborah. I think I might need to invest in that embossing folder. It makes a great background for a variety of cards. Thanks for sharing your card with us at Just Us Girls.
