pixie houses

Welcome to my crafty blog. I’m giving some more new stamps an airing today – these arrived in a happy parcel from Claritystamp this week, following their club members sale. This ‘funky houses’ stamp set is just so cute – I think they look like pixie houses! I also really like picture building and these little stamps are perfect for creating scenes. The design for this card was inspired by this week’s challenge from Narelle over at Freshly Made Sketches

I started by stamping the swirly fields onto a piece of white card, and then masked them off before adding the houses and trees. One of the great things about Clarity stamps is that they come with laser cut reusable masks, so no fiddly cutting with sticky notes.

Next step was to colour the image. I used Spectrum Noir pencils for the shading (thanks to the technique lessons from Barbara Gray over in the Clarity SHAC shack – you can check it out here).

I decided the sky area needed softening slightly, so popped the masks back into place, and gently brushed some ‘specked egg’ Distress Oxide across the houses. It’s very subtle, so difficult to really see in this photo.

I finished by adding the sentiment (from Julie Hickey’s ‘sweet daisy’ set) and then mounted it onto an A6 card blank.

And that’s all there is to it! We’re halfway through the weekend already, and I’ll be back with another creation tomorrow.
