say ‘thank you’ with flowers

Welcome to my crafty blog. I’ve now started making thank you cards, as I always need a number of them after Christmas (for which I’m very grateful!). There used to be a TV advert in the UK which I think was for Interflora, with the strapline ‘say it with flowers’ – so that’s what I’m going to do. I really enjoy pattern building images on cards, so went for the Stampin Up! ‘Beautiful Friendship’ set, which creates lovely bouquets. I picked up the colours for this card from the current Fab Friday challenge (http://fabfridaystampinchallenge.blogspot.com/) which I thought worked really well for the flowers.

I started by putting a strip of masking take across the centre of a 5×5 white card blank, and then lightly brushed Distress Oxide in ‘speckled egg’ on either side of the tape. I wanted to just give a hint of definition to the edges of the white strip that would be left across the card when I’d finished.

I then stamped the flowers along the top and bottom of the tape, reversing the bottom ones to provide a mirror image. I used Distress Ink in ‘worn lipstick’ and ‘fired brick’ for the large flowers, and the ‘speckled egg’ with ‘bottle’ Adirondack ink for the sprays. The leaves were stamped in ‘lettuce’ Adirondack.

Once the flowers were done, I removed the masking tape from the centre of the card, and finished by stamping ‘thank you’ from the Claritystamp handwriting set.

I do like one layer cards, and they are great for keeping down postage charges, or making in batches. Looks like I’ll have more time for crafting this week as well, now that London is basically back in lockdown and so many things have been cancelled. Thankfully, everything I need to send is already posted, and there are just a few cards to drop off locally. Take care everyone, and stay safe
